The right lacing makes your shoe fit a lot better. Two handy techniques:
Heel slips or foot slides forward: the heel lock
This lacing keeps your heel in place. It moves less, so it rubs less.
- Lace your shoe as usual, up to and including the second-to-last eyelet.
- Take each lace up through the top eyelet on the same side, so a small loop forms on both sides.
- Pass each lace crosswise through the loop on the other side.
- Pull the laces down to tighten and tie them as usual.
Pressure on your instep: skip the pressure point
Do the laces press on the top of your foot? Do not cross them where it presses. Run each lace straight up on its own side to the next eyelet, then carry on crossing as usual.
